Why we exist
The Department of War estimates that 100,000+ companies need to meet CMMC Level 2. The overwhelming majority are small businesses — shops with a handful of employees, no in-house security team, and no budget for a $10,000–$40,000 consultant just to find out their SPRS score. Yet the rules apply to them exactly the same as they apply to a prime with a compliance department.
That gap is the whole reason Objective320 exists. The information you need to take the first real steps — score yourself, understand the requirements, and start a System Security Plan — shouldn't be locked behind a paywall or buried in 200 pages of federal language. We translate it into plain English and put working tools in your hands, free.
Why the tools are free
Two honest reasons. First, the early steps of compliance — assessing your SPRS score and drafting your initial SSP narratives — are genuinely something a small contractor can do themselves with the right guide. We'd rather help 100,000 companies take that step than gate it. Second, free tools that actually work are how we earn your trust before we ever offer anything paid. If we build more advanced products down the road, you'll already know whether our work is accurate and worth it — because you used the free version first.
How we keep it accurate
Accuracy is the entire point — a compliance tool that's wrong is worse than no tool at all. So we hold ourselves to the source material, not interpretations of it:
Requirement text from the source
The control text in our tools is taken verbatim from NIST SP 800-171 Revision 2 — the revision SPRS scoring and CMMC assessment actually use today.
Scoring from the official method
Point weights follow the NIST SP 800-171 DoD Assessment Methodology (the 5 / 3 / 1 weighted subtractors), so your score reflects how the government actually scores it.
Written to the assessment objectives
Our SSP narratives are drafted to map to the NIST SP 800-171A assessment objectives — the specific statements an assessor checks against.
Plain English, not legal fog
Every requirement gets a plain-language explanation alongside the official text, so you understand what it means before you act on it.
Who's behind Objective320
Objective320 is built and operated by Red Diamond Strategic, LLC, a U.S.-based small business. We're registered in the federal System for Award Management (SAM.gov) and focused on practical tools for the defense industrial base.
We keep the focus on the work rather than the founder for now — the tools and their accuracy are what matter to you today. As Objective320 grows, we'll share more about the team behind it.
What's next
We're expanding the free toolkit and the Resources library steadily — more cornerstone guides, broader SSP coverage beyond the first families, and (further out) an optional compliance dashboard to track your progress over time. The free core stays free.
